SOW Miss: GH's Bioxotin Story Made Us Sick

The release of deadly biotoxin on GH certainly was a disaster – and not in a good way.
GH undercut itself from the start by diluting any sense of jeopardy. Characters wailed about the danger of the poison gas and lamented that many, many people were trapped and panicking, but all fans saw were deserted corridors and the usual suspects. The story could have been improved dramatically by adding some innocents for Sam and Jason to rescue instead of chasing Trevor and Anthony – the usual mob stuff. And if Spinelli could weather the explosion of a room full of oxygen cylinders with mere smudges on his face, where as the drama?

Not that fans feared the Jackal would really be put down. As expected, GH shielded its stars and axed the villainous Trevor and Anthony. (No doubt more “bad” gangsters will spring up, hydra-like in their places.) It was unfortunate that Leyla had to be sacrificed, but hey, at least she got a couple of lines for a change. Her former GH: NS compatriot Dr. Andy Archer was not so lucky.

On the bright side, chief of staff Patrick got to act heroically in a medical context, Maxie teaming up with Johnny provided a welcome spark of illicitly hot sexual tension, and Lucky reunited with Elizabeth in warmhearted scenes. But there also too many gangsters and civilians sneaking in and out of quarantine to save victims while emergency personnel (real-life heroes, all!) cowered behind yellow tape. And let’s just dismiss Robin and Emma in the snow as a hallucination caused by that leaking nitrous oxide.

The fire conveniently burned off all the poison, but not before fans were nauseated by this toxic brew.

Patrick's constant pushing does not help Robin, and may lead them down a dangerous path. Will they finally get things straight before its too late?

Friday, March 6:
Robin and Patrick have a huge fight.

Ratings aren't the biggest problem facing Prospect these days. More pressing than ratings, disgrunted fans (and no not just fangirls--from all fanbases) and disgruntled employees and staff are proving to be the bigger issue these days.
With the ax of 3 contract players (2 have already been told they are out and 1 already knows she's next), the addition of 1 newbie contract thanks to a special pull, and 3 contract actors dropped to recurring status (one actor let the cat out of the bag at his recent PA to his fans chagrin), Prospect is not a pretty place to be these days.
Fan reaction--not fangirl reaction--is being very closely monitored. Things are changing on the fly. Two of the best examples-- LL2 and Carjax.
Thanks but just so I can understand -what is the difference between fangirls and fans? How can Prospect tell the difference?
Go through the calls, letters and other items sent to the studio long enough and you become an expert at the fan vs. the fangirl.
What has the feedback been for the PPD story if you don't mind my asking?
Varied. Many more are siding with Robin than Patrick. But overall, fans are having a hard time accepting the PPD, hence no public announcement for PPD has followed an episode as of yet.

Think Markham Island adventure in late April. Same players execpt take out DQ and add in Ethan. It's going to be a hoot. This is coming from people above Guza. Lulu/Ethan get closer, Scrubs begin to rebuild.

Why do they have to ruin this couple??!?! Is Patrick going to see Robin kissing the carpenter at the bar?

Anonymous,  March 6, 2009 at 1:16 PM

I can't even watch this anymore, GH has ruined the best thing to happen to this soap.........tired of being depressed.

I am glad to see I am not alone.
Such a shame. They had a good thing going, and decided to make a mess of it.

Hey when do you think you'll have the final edition of the letters to muffin from patrick's point of view??? I really wanna read it

I am siding with Patrick. It's all about me, me and more me with Robin. Can't she see that Patrick is concerned about her? I went through PPD and I tried to deny that something was wrong at first and after a few weeks, I realized that something was definitely wrong and I went to my doctor and she recommended a great therapist I went to the therapist and it was the best decision that I have ever made. I got the help that I needed and went on medication that worked wonders for me. I think too they are dragging this PPD storyline out a little bit too long. Can we please get some happiness for Patrick and Robin for a change?

I, too, had PPD - and my competent doctor's caught it in week 3 of my child's life. I never left my child in a tree; nor, did I go to a bar in the afternoon - and lie about having a child. This storyline is irresponsible. Admitting is is OK to "act out" like Robin is - is not very smart or socially ethical.

The happy marriage is over...it is just a matter of time till the D word is mentioned.

Scrubs appears dead. Does anyone else notice that Patrick and Robin don't seem to even "like" each other anymore!

Anonymous,  March 6, 2009 at 5:22 PM

The PPD thing has gone way too far as do all
guza'a crazy ideas....he is hell bent on ruining Robin and Patrick...It's way past being any fun to watch
gh anymore....It's torture...tptb never let Robin and Patrick have one single day let alone week of wedded bliss...right from the wedding into the pits...making Robin into a witch and Patrick pathetic...get real...give us what we want or give it all up...can't believe the ratings don't tell you that you are failing us on all counts...
A sad former GH addict....

I am going to stop watching it. It is disgusting. The next thing we see for the SCRUBS to me is THEM GOING TO DIVORCE COURT. LIKE I SAID BEFORE, IF THEY THINK THEIR RATING SUCK NOW, JUST WAIT. THIS STORYLINE IS TO LONG AND IT SUCKS. NO PPD HELP AND NO HAPPY SCENE. SICK OF IT.

I FIND OTHER SOAPS BETTER THAN THIS. I AM SWITCHING OVER AND READING MORE BOOKS.

I LOVE PATRICK AND ROBIN AS A COUPLE. SOMEONE NEEDS TO HELP PATRICK HELP ROBIN IN THIS PPD.

I THINK KIMBERLY AND JASON SHOULD BE A COUPLE IN REAL LIFE. THEY ARE WONDERFUL TOGETHER AND SO CUTE TOGETHER.

Anonymous,  March 6, 2009 at 8:30 PM

Whatever happened to "love in the afternoon?"

I think Scrubs are DEAD....

I also don't think Kimberly and Jason can stand each other - watch their body language....crossed arms...no loving....not even attempts at affection.

That's probably why they are being broken up on the show.

Anonymous,  March 6, 2009 at 8:37 PM

I just got my copy of Soap Opera Digest (mail) and for the first time in a long time....the poll for favorite actress and actor is no longer Kimberly and Jason - but, Steve Burton and Rebecca Herbst.

Shows you how un-popular Scrubs has become that they are removed from the list by a "non-couple" -have Jason and Elizabeth even shared a scene together in ages??

Anonymous,  March 7, 2009 at 4:51 AM

This is exactly what Guza wanted! Write Scrubs to disgust the viewers and then he can break them up. He never knew that their chemistry would be so great and now it bothers him. Good couples are not his thing. Guns and hate thrill him to bits!

Anonymous,  March 7, 2009 at 7:59 AM

I HATE GUZA...I HATE GUZA... Why doesn't JFP just fired him and get it over with?? I use to watch AMC but Chuck Pratt has turned me off on that one.. Only good soap on ABC right now is OLTL... Sad Sad day when out of 3 soaps on a network only 1 is good...

GH had a good thing with going with SCRUBS and know GUZA and FRONS have ruined them...

I can not watch this play out... Don't want to throw stuff at my new HDTV....
Angela :(

ALL OF YOU ARE SO RIGHT. GUZA AND FRONS DO NOT KNOW HOW BAD THEY HAVE MADE GENERAL HOSPITAL. THIS SOAP IS THE LAUGHING STOCK OF ALL THE SOAPS. IT IS ALRIGHT TO HAVE FIGHTS WITH LOVE ONES, BUT WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO THE SCRUBS IS SOOOO STUPID. THEY ARE ABOUT TO LOSE A TON OF FANS.

I THINK THEY WANT GH OFF THE AIR. THE WAY THEY ARE GOING THEY ARE GOING TO SUCCEED. I LOVE ROBIN AND PATRICK AS A COUPLE ON & OFF THE AIR. I TOTALLY DISLIKE THE SCRIPT WRITING OF THIS SOAP, ESPECIALLY THE SWEEPS IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS.
