the story planned for Nik doesn't make a lot of room for another love interest.
The character of Leyla will move out of the direct line of Scrubs but will stay in their orbit. If her performance doesn't substantially improve then she will simply disappear.

Feb sweeps is roughly planned for a big takeover by Trevor and it's the turning point in Nikolas's storyline. He'll remember all that he saw at that point which leads to stunning revelations to the characters on the canvas who killed Emily and Georgie... and almost kills Robin.
Robin will make a discovery at the end of February. A happy discovery.
Also I heard Kristina Wagner may actually stay around for the fallout of Georgie's murder. Something that was not originally intended. (source)

HI Insider... Scrubs fan here. I am really curious, prior to a month ago, who was the choice for Robin's baby's daddy? You say that the choice is Patrick now, what brought about the change? The ratings? The reaction to NB at SSW, which caused tiic to re-examine their "triange?"
Also: Scrubs reunion: Pre or Post Christmas? NYE? Scrubs engagement soon: yes or no? IF yes, when? Robin's pregnancy was basically confirmed by KMc for February, is this still the case?
GEOSPIN: Do we see them getting together before Georgie's death? Are they going to become a couple? How does Spin end up at the Scoripo's for TG and not w/ Jason or Lulu?

Reading between the lines, it seems to me that Guza wanted Robin's story to be an HIV-positive woman who chose to do it all on her own. He probably would have had Jason donate without Robin knowing and then after Patrick got bored nailing the nurse, Guza would have thrown them back together to have Patrick raise Jason's kid thinking that irony would be can't miss daytime TV. Rolling Eyes
that was pretty much the idea in a nutshell
The set up was all there for that plot to play out. I guess since it is not happening, we have SBu to thank instead of Frons.
SB said very loudly that he was not interested in being in that story (not because he doesn't like KMc or JT) and he lit a fire under JT as well (source)
