Disney is watching ABCD very closely due to poor ratings performance and revenue decreases. Some Disney execs have started to get involved in the details and have made it very clear that if the show's performance does not improve soon and significantly, there will be severe consequences.
The EP is currently running the show and doing her best to fix things - making assertions and promises that she can deliver but there is some lack of faith that she can.
The HW - whose outlines are in effect for the next 8 weeks or so is trying a last ditch effort to save his job
The reaction to Sarah Brown's return will be closely watched by higher ups as it has been promised to help the show
The reaction to Georgie and Emily's death have been very poorly received and the storyline for Nik/Emily will be ending sooner than expected
The HIV pregnancy storyline is ago - it was put on hold earlier as Disney disproved of the method - it will be closely watched and if not responsibly done there will be consequences for the writers and producers. (source)
Do you mean the speed in how fast they are telling a story, how slow they are telling a story, or how they tend to drop a story mid-tale? Can you get more specific? Thanks!
All of the above, actually. There has been & will continue to be a noticeable slowing down in the build of romances. There hass been & will continue to be a cut back of "bait & switch." Anyone expecting pairings to be dropped suddenly to help improve the ratings should exhale. They've learned, through much trial & error, that it is counter productive to do so. What you have on screen now will continue for some time. They want to build the pairings, keep the audience watching. By building them to a certain degree only to then instantly destroy them, they have learned that they are turning viewers away.
Do you think this new regimen will continue if the strike is over and writers come back?
No. I don't. There will be a readjustment of the totem pole. The writer's strike has proven an invaluable tool to bring forth this readjustment. While unfortunate for some, the strike may just be what saves this show in the long run.
Any flashbacks?
None planned at this time. Flashbacks tend to be used for certain big events only. Funerals. Weddings. Births. If a character is leaving the show. Will the couple get one or more of these events in the future? Possibly.
Nothing past Feb is for sure and we all know that.
So what will be Robin and Patrick's story for new few months? Their story's been stalled for months.
There is much frustration amongst many parties involved in regards to this. The story continues to be hotly discussed, and then stalled. The story does need to be done right. That has much to do with the stall. Andy by the story, I'm referring to the pregnancy.
Do you have anything on Robin and Patrick or Kim and Jason?
They, too, will continue. And the HIV pregnancy story will happen. It continues to be stalled. But the stall has nothing to do with lack of interest in it. Moreso, it is in the spirit of wanting to do it justice.
Did Guza not leave an outline for this? When do you think it will begin?
He did. But TPTB want to do the story justice. What with ratings being at an all time low, they are hoping to pull them up a bit before launching it. Expect to see the start of it by the end of January.
The Liz/Robin friendship will be dropped for Liz/Kate?
No. Expect more friendships to be focused on as well. This is yet another issue that is being addressed. Friendships. Families. Don't expect to see instant adjustment to either aspects, however. Everything has slowed down. Pacing, as I mentioned earlier, was one of the first issues to be addressed.
If the insider is still here.....
GH is celebrating it's 45th Anniversary on April 1st. Do you know if there are any plans to commemorate it on-screen? Is there an event -- story-wise -- that will tie in? (For example, when DOOL celebrated their 25th, it tied in with the conclusion of a big storyline that found most of the major characters trapped in underground tunnels, giving them lots of opportunities to reminisce while they awaited rescue -- and show lots of old clips/montages.)
There is discussion of commemorating it, yes. But it's all dependant on performance leading up to the anniversary. And by performance, I mean revenue brought it.
Do you know if there is talk of any other head writer coming to write for GH because of the mess that was left in the wake of the strike and before that?
If the readjustments go through, there will be a new head writer. The current head writer, however, will not leave the premises.
What happens if by some chance ratings don't rise? Still the same story? It appears to be what you're saying.
Again, TPTB have learned that their old "bait & switch" tactics do more harm than good. They are going to build on what they have, rather than try a quick fix, which has failed in the past few years.
Are they going to try something different with this sweeps? Actual story telling instead of like you said, stunt casting and stunt sweeps? Will it be a story that ropes all the cast together?
This upcoming sweeps will have much to do with stories that have been building for the past year coming to a head. SBr's return ties into it, and that storyline is the only one that has not been built up.
Insider: What is the delicious secret in regards to Robin's pregnancy referenced in SOD? Is there a sperm switch or any other funny business?
Thanks!
There will be no sperm switch. The fans of the pairing may not like how the pregnancy comes to pass, but in the end, I imagine they will be pleased.
Do you know if there will be more character driven stories involved in this new change with writing? Instead of plot point writing?
There will be a cut back in plot point driven stories, yes. In general, everything's being taken into account. The lack of friendship. The lack of families. The lack of romance. The amount of violence. The general dark mood of the show. I must say again, however, do not expect an abrupt change. The pace of the show has changed.
This will be my last post. I've fallen back several pages in answering questions. I will try & stop back after the New Year again.
Happy New Year SD. (source)
From what I know here goes
Scrubs will not be too involved in January. Robin and Patrick will be on screen but will be in hospital mode primarily. I think and the end of January something big is supposed to happen and I can only assume that Robin is pregnant but not sure.
Maxie I think will be involved in helping to solve her sisters murder. She becomes increasingly suspicious of Cooper.
All I know about these things
What kind of information do you have? Backstage or breakdowns? If the latter, how far does your information go?
Do you know the twist we haven't been told about that's coming up in January/Feb?
All I can say is that the set is not a real happy place these days. The actors are all quite aware of the low viewership but are focused on taping and trying to get through this with the scab scripts. From what I have been told the outlines for the show take them through taping though the end of January timeframe and that is it from what I know.
I am unaware of any big twist hitting in Jan/Feb but everything is being kept very close to the vest. I have heard some rumblings about something new happening in the Emily and Nikolas storyline which is supposed to be a good thing for fans but I have no idea what this could be or if this gossip is correct.
We were actually told that the set was happier now since the scab scripts were good and that they could adlib some. The JFP was personally overseeing the copying of scripts and handling the shop a lot better now that Guza wasn't around. This isn't true?
Has the set had any higher up visitors lately?
What's the buzz about a vet coming back soon? We had someone drop that.
I can tell you the set is status quo. I have no idea who says it is a happier place. The scap scripts have been decent but the actors still need to focus more since the scabs do not have all the history. I think people may mix happiness with focus and the actors are a lot more focused for this reason.
Frons has been on set and that is all I am aware of no one else.
I am not aware of any other vets returing to the show. (source)
Puppy gossiper here, this will probably be my last post
The TMK killer is one person only, Coop
Patrick is the father of Robin's baby and there is no sperm switch WITH CarJax (source)

Puppy gossiper, last thing
All I was told about Scrubs is there is no sperm switch with CarJax, I was assured of that (source)
I do have one tidbit I'll share. The time originally portioned for Robin and Patrick for the run up to reunion and crisis with her decision about pregnancy was red lined for someone else who was not counted in when the original long terms were set up. It was believed that he needed a firmer foundation considering they wanted to hang a huge storyline on him. Two other minor stories were sidelined and one reduced altogether. Believe it or not. (source)
The TMK killer is one person only, Coop TRUE
Patrick is the father of Robin's baby and there is no sperm switch WITH CarJax TRUE (source)
Are Scrubs being phased out? Did TPTB really want Patrick and Leyla to fly as a pairing
No and No.
Are you sure they're not being phased out? Because...it seems like it.
Yes I'm sure.
Thanks , as a Scrubs fan I am a bit hurt that there is nothing for them. Anything good on the horizon?
The baby story. Limited airtime in January. Much more story in February.
What was the purpose third party angst? It didn't get them closer to reunion or baby, just farther from both?
Poorly written angst for a couple not given enough airtime to truly flesh it out.
Is it true they really do reunite offscreen and we won't know until they just show up back together?
No. Their story will play out on screen.
But insiders keep warning fans might not like it- what is going to make me as a fan be weary of this story?
I didn't say Scrubs fans would 'like' it. I haven't said they necessarily reunite in the traditional sense. But this is a Scrubs story. This is a story about Robin and Patrick. (source)
