AIG:
AIG did you say anything about scrubs? or can you?
That is one of the things I am awaiting confirmation on. As you know, Robin will be getting pregnant. There is more to the story but according to what I know Patrick is definitely the father. I promise to be back when I can spoil more.
Good night.

I don't think the pregnancy story will be stalled just because of KMc's contract status. Guza always wanted to do the story and if KMc leaves again, she won't come back. This is it. If they don't do that story now, they'll never get a chance to do it. So I think its definitely "on go" for the spring.

I'm not sure where the news is that the baby story is stalled is coming from. It is a go.
And whatever rumblings regarding contracts are just that, rumblings. There have been no official talks with management about their contracts and they are writing as though they are staying for the duration.
There are other contracts that are more worrisome at the moment.
Can you say whose?
Maurice and Tony.
Chat is here?
Hi Chat Up!
Good to see you, how are things at GH are they still concerned over the demos/ratings? Are the scabs really in place as rumored? Thanks
Probably best if I don't speak about scab writers.
There is huge concern over the show's performance and life is not getting easier for anyone because of it.
Chat up, what's the general feeling by TPTB toward Guza. Is there any feeling that he's tanked GH on purpose as many fans feel?
Did TPTB feel that with fans turning their back on the mob storylines and wanting more love in the afternoon that bringing in another mob family was really the smart thing to do?
~AA~

It depends on who you talk to in regards to the HW. There is an opinion in many sectors that he is played out and that fresh blood is needed.
I wouldn't say that anyone believes he is tanking the show - if they felt that, steps would have been taken long ago to prevent that.
Is Chat-up still here?
I heard something interesting this morning, wonder if you could confirm?
Was there a "visitor" on the set, in the production booth, meeting withsome of the actors, etc. yesterday?
Do you know anything about that?

I don't know, I'm sorry.
Thanks, anyway.
If you get a chance check with some of your sources. I'm almost sure the visitor was definitely there. That came from an excellent source but between the strike and the facts that the visitor was walking around with Jill, we can't figure out what he might have been doing there.

I'll see what I can find out.
these are interesting times at prospect so nothing would surprise me
I heard that the Scabs and Jill are doing pretty good. True or false?
Without commenting on scab writers I will say that the set has been somewhat happier of late.
Among the cast or the crew? Or both?
Definitely both
Chat UP,
Any news on the HIV pregnancy story? Do you think it will get some increased airtime for Scrubs?
And has anything changed relating to a possible sperm switch?

Everything I have been told is that it is a go. It should result in greater airtime - what that reasonably translates to, I couldn't say with any certainty.
I still haven't heard anything about sperm switching.
Chat up, do you have any news about the Scrubs story or the HIV pregnancy story? Any changes? We've been getting pretty bleak rumors the past few days on them.
I will say this and then I really have to get back to work
There are a few stories that are being kept pretty quiet - such as the HIV pregnancy, Sarah Brown's return etc - I have been unable to get many details on them because they are trying to get as much mileage out of the stories as they can. The number of people who have access to those details is pretty small. (source)
Right now TPTB know that nothing is 'working'. They chose to push Skate heavily during sweeps and right now because that was the one couple they thought had the best chance of a positive response. The proof of that is on our screen. Skate hasn't returned the ratings for them either and everything is up in the air and at risk as of right now and that includes every current pairing and sl on the show.
The thing is those who make the decisions - senior managment - know that one couple or one pairing is not what makes the ratings or wrecks the ratings. They did not push one particular pairing heavily durings sweeps in hopes that the numbers would climb.
Every current pairing and storyline is not at risk. The plan is to first deal with the backstage changes and then will introduce a series of gradual on-screen changes as determined or needed. They will not toss the whole thing and start fresh - it's not an option.
chat up any chance Guza is gone after the strike?
There has been no final decision made that I'm aware of but he is by no means safe. (source)
Frons is senior management and he "knows" no such thing. He has never "known it". Whenever his soaps crash, he is mystified. He can't think of what's being done wrong.
He really isn't that mystified. He knows exactly what is wrong and the situation is dire enough now that he must take action.
But CU, what made him see the light all of a sudden? The show has been on a steady decline for almost the entire year and he's only now realizing what's wrong? Or has he known all along but was giving things a chance to pick up and now realizes that that just ain't happening?
It's a number of things. He was told by people he trusted that it could be turned around and he waited. It's like any business in that sense - many companies are slow to act as they try to fix it among themselves before having to take more direct action.
Losing money will get anyone's attention and dips in revenue are pretty front and center right now.
His three soaps are in serious trouble and the NS stuff for SoapNet wasn't good either. But he's supposed to be good during times like these. I'm not hopeful though.
I wouldn't classify OLTL as serious trouble - it's been a little more stable as of late.
This is the type of situation where we've been told he does well - I reserve judgement until all is said and done but I'm more hopeful than I've been in a while. (source)
Chat up, what does Mr. Frons consider to be wrong?
Thanks for coming back tonight

It's the foundation - writing/execution/delivery and it's the ancillary - marketing/promo.
Sometimes when your house is unstable you have to build a new foundation rather than continue to buttress the old one.
Hey Chat Up?
Are they allowed to fire writers duing the strike, or do they have to wait until the strike is over?

You cannot fire a writer for being on strike. So, if you are going to fire someone during a strike you must show cause and you must demonstrate that they were aware of this cause prior to the labor action.
Is it only the writing staff in trouble or will the producing team be held accountable?
Everyone.
Are stories being tweaked or are things pretty set in stone because of the strike and will be changed later?
It's a bit of both. There are some stories they are more committed to than others and therefore less likely to be tweaked. But, they will change what they need to as they need to.
Is the business side of GH thankful that they are finally being heard?
Yes, but not enough for me to stop lighting candles at church Wink
Chat Up,
Let me preface this with the truth that as a fan I am fed up and tired of waiting around for something that never seems to happen. What is it going to take for business as usual to end at GH? I have been waiting 2.5 years for GH to do something of substance with Kimberly M. I have been hoping to see some serious stories for anyone but the usual airtime hogs.
Bottom line - is change going to happen? Or is it more talk that will go nowhere? Thanks.

Can I say unequivocally that any change in writing will result in a greater presence for your favorite actor or anyone else's? No.
But we are beyond the talking stage. Folks above Frons are paying attention and the heat is on.
It's probably not as comforting as you were hoping for but it's all I have for the moment.
Chat Up,
In you opinion, will those characters and couples that are not deemed "a list" but still remain popular with the audience ever see an increase in exposure and airtime?
Also, are you aware at all of Rick Springfield coming back for scenes?
Thanks for taking the time to respond.

I think if I start listing who I think are 'a' list and who isn't I may be starting something I don't want to. I'll just say that all contract players are considered valuable and as the show moves forward there has been talk about greater balance.
I haven't heard anything about Rick returning.
So despite the demos being record lows before sweeps and despite one of the worst sweeps in recent times if not ever, there are still no concrete definite changes coming which means that fans won't see any evidence of change for at least 6 wks to 3 months. Upshot -- safe to say that fans won't see anything obvious "on screen" until after February sweeps?
I hesitate to give a timeline. If the writers strike continues, and it really shows no positive signs at the moment, then wholesale changes to writing or producers is hard to enact.
The strike is a mixed blessing for the show at the moment (in my opinion) (source)
Do the GH writers all work under one general union contract or is it individualized contracts? Meaning can one writer be fired, while another sticks around? How about Guza? surely he must have performance measurements in his contract? When will those be triggered?
The WGA has a collective agreement negotiated with AMPTA that represents the minimum terms and conditions for employing a guild member. In that agreement elements such as termination are covered.
The HW will have additional clauses etc in his contract complete with expectations of performance and deliverables.
Can they fire him for not delivering? Yes.
They cannot do it while he is on strike unless they show cause - which is not as simple as pointing to the ratings and saying "this is why" (source)

Robin does not get attacked and Patrick changes his mind about the baby because he doesn't want to lose her and he doesn't want her to have someone else's child. Nik steps up and offers to donate sperm and Robin is going to take him up on it and Patrick stops it.
What about the rest of december? any love scenes for patrick and robin at all?
Not in December. No sex for them until Jan.
How far into Jan and will it be full love scene or fade to black? TIA

I believe it is scheduled for the week of the 14th and it will be a full love scene. It is closed set. (source)

The other 3 prominent storylines are the serial killer investigation, Robin's pregnancy and Nikolas's illness.
Nikolas refuses to get help and his condition worsens.
Robin finds herself getting something that Carly can't have... bundle of joy. Carly's actions may surprise you here.
And all I'm going to say is not to have high hopes in regards to the Text Message Killer saga. (source)

Aight thanks. Got anything LuSam, Scrubs, Maxie, Alexis, Nik friendly?
LuSam are together until the actual custody trial when her actions come out and then he ends it. Already reported what I was told about Scrubs with the lvoe scene the week of the 14th and Patrick stepping up to be the baby's father after Nik volunteers. I didn't get anything on Maxie because I didn't ask but will next time. Nik is dealing with his med crisis and Em. (source)
