Chat Up Anon:
How is GH doing?
it's not losing money at the moment but it's a delicate balancing act.
NAZA will leave when she is good and ready.
I hear she may not get a choice.
She'll leave to pursue other opportunities.
She won't be fired.

Management is prepared to exercise its out if there isn't some marked on-screen improvment soon.
Not to doubt you but how much time does she need? She has sucked since day 1 of NS and has gotten worse on GH.
They can't fire her before the 13 weeks of her contract are done..
not much more time. They have made accommodations for her and have looked to get her assistance. There is a high degree of frustration with her performance.
The actors are frustrated or everyone on the set including behind the scenes?
frustration is mostly behind the scenes. She is a lovely girl and genuinely liked - but that has little to do with her work.
Why is she getting special treatment? Any other actor would be fired already. And what kind of assistance?
She cannot be let go until the 13 week mark. She has taken a significantly less active roll as the weeks have progressed.
she isn't getting special treatment. She's within her 13 weeks.
she's been given an acting coach.
Chat Up someone was here last night stating NB is nearing her 13 weeks and Mgmt is getting a bit impatient w/ her development. True?
That matches what I've heard.
Hey there..
So, how long are we gonna be in Corpse hell???

I'm assuming you mean Leyla?
Her impact on the story is supposed to be in decline - that's what I've been told.
What about the prospects for NS2?
At the moment, not great. Revenues are not where they need them to be in order to build a second sound stage, hire a separate crew/staff and film etc.
The writers strike also throws a giant wrench in that plan.
So, is it true that they are looking at the 18-34 market demo wise or that they consider that most important? I noticed Y&R and GH were virtually tied, w/ GH being slightly behind but the number is far less than last sweeps. What is your take on that?
18-34 remains the most desirable demo and the show is trying to appeal to that group in order to lure in the big advertisers - those with products aimed at that demo tend to have larger adverstising budgets.
Thanks, get rid of some of the newbies, that would save them money!
Newbies save soaps money because they are cheaper. That is why Soaps are always bringing on new characters these days.
Blackwell wasn't let go/didn't leave because of NS. Her vision for the channel was at odds with others.
SN's revenues are relatively healthy given their ratio of original programming to reruns
Any thoughts on why all of the ABCD shows seem to be bleeding viewers right now? Do they consider the fact that OLTL is at an all time low to affect GH's numbers in any way since it is the lead in?
Lead ins are not as important in daytime as they are in primetime.
Daytime viewership as a whole is down. Y&R is steadier because they have an older demo who won't/can't download clips, watch on youtube etc.
While there is still a belief that the genre is viable how it is delievered is in question.
It seems like it is hard for daytime soaps to regain fans after they leave. Have they done an analysis on what happend 5-6 weeks ago for the numbers to drop (HH) .2 and not to be gained again?
There are a number of drivers for the drop in HH, including return to school/end of summer holidays.
It isn't hard to regain viewers necessarily provided they feel there is a reason to return. Soaps are a habit and viewers want to watch.
So, would you say YouTube hurts them b/c people can download the scenes they want to see? How does one get around that?
When the network can't control the clips, then they can't measure the viewership which hurts overall numbers.
Do they ever take notice of the promos and the scenes on YouTubes that have big numbers shortly after released? Like the Liason ILY promo or the LuSam hot tub scene?
It's a false number in a scientific sense - you could have 100 people watch a clip 100 times - that doesn't give them a read on the reach of the promo or scene.
Chat Up ,
This was posted in the IL. Any truth to it? Anything you care to expand on?
The winds of change are gathering momentum with cast, producers and writers.
Only to say that sweeps are very important to a number of behind the scenes people and if there is no performance improvement, there will be changes.
Chat up,
I read an article that said the WGA would allow some writers to work but /w the producers agreeing to pay them what the new contract alotted. Do you know if this could pertain to the Soap writers? It seems like it would since the soaps are at risk as a whole?

It could pertain to daytime writers but I would be surprised. The guild really wants the producers to feel the pain and bring them back to the table.
Hello Chat up.
What has been the reaction behind the scenes to the latest ratings??

Not great.
Next week's ratings will be very, very telling and there are more than a few people popping antacid tablets.
Hi Chat Up,
Do you know if they are going to show a special promo at SSW like last year? Will it be anything surprising that hasn't been scooped yet? TIA

I expect there will be one but I don't know for sure - sorry.
We are hearing mixed things on the amount of scripts available and that the actor's union has said they can't help write scripts. Are they still confident they can continue to produce weekly scripts throughout? Once the current outline is over, would they start writing 3 month arcs themselves?
AFTRA is trying to show solidarity with the guild where they can.
Management will do whatever it takes to keep the show on the air.
Really? Do you know who there blaming it on? Or rather what story lines?
the people I deal with are not blaming it on specific storylines. the word "vision" is being used a lot.
Chat up, Is Anna returning this december/january?
I don't believe it's been confirmed but they will happily move things around for Finola. (source)
Chat up has there been any backlash to Jason Thompson for his current S/L with Leyla I no as a Patrick fan I'm really not likeing his charecter at all right now and have tuned out.
Backlash for him personally - not that I'm aware of. There has been reaction to his character and his choices but not beyond that
Chat Up,
You said ratings for this week and next are important. But in the last two Novembers, the HH ratings did not move up more than 0.2 from the first day. Do they honestly think this week will break trend?

a .2 bump would be nice.
do they think they can break the trend - yes. will they? remains to be seen. (source)
Thanks CU,
Is it true that there are scabs already at GH? We heard that someone came in driving a red car while the other story is that they are past daytime writers sending in work from home and from a different email address so they aren't caught. Those writers are promised jobs after the strike is over and working at below union rates.

For a lot of reasons I can't touch that question other than to say union members have long memories.
Is there really an indecision over who the father of Robin's baby will be?
There was for a while but I believe they have settled on Patrick (source)

Soap Dish Anon:
11/9
can you give any details on Robin for today?
Anthony has her along with Patrick and Leyla. He confuses Leyla with his dead wife. Wink
Thanks, so are there bonding with Patrick and Leyla today? Hugs, looks hand holdking?
There is really no time for that. Anthony has captured them. They are all frightened.
I thought that happened on monday...do robin/patrick have alone scenes?
It does but it all starts at the end of the show. (source)

Can you shed any light on the Patrick and Robin scenes on Monday/Tuesday when Leyla has to choose? Is that basically the end of Leyla's involvement in this story or do we still have to endure some more?
Leyla is still around. She's not going to magically disappear from the screen. (source)

GH Writer Confirms Scabs
David Goldschmid ("General Hospital")
I've been walking the picket line for four days now and I still find other writers walking with me who are stunned when I tell them my show is being written by scab writers *as we speak.* Primetime and feature writers don't have to worry about this problem. But we do; we soap writers are the first/worst to suffer in this awful strike that will (hopefully) benefit us all. I just wish the rest of the writers in other parts of the entertainment industry knew how badly we daytime scribes were getting screwed for them...
And as for former Disney CEO Michael Eisner, who just yesterday called our WGA strike "stupid?" He can sit and spin on a lead pipe, for all I care! What's so "stupid" about trying to safeguard my future?? Eisner and his billionaire studio head cronies are trying to keep unions out of the internet - which is conveniently the future hub for ALL entertainment. These greedy studio heads aren't satisfied being richer than Midas; they're trying to become richer than God. (source)

I'm NOTchatty but I can tell you this--someone is entertaining themselves.
There has never been any question as to who the father of Robin's baby would be when the time came. This was fan speculation based on early leaks regarding Robin's quest for a sperm donor. The quest was never meant to be a serious one either, its just a stall and a way to showcase (to Patrick) how much having a family means to her. (source)

Some one is having fun you all again. Robin/Patrick and Liz/Jason are the story. Don't let them stir up trouble. Out! (source)

No, the identity of the father was in question. JT and KM have both said that as well. Online has certainly blown it out of proportion as to who it might be, but nothing is set in stone; never has been (source)

You're obviously not an insider; your lingo totally gives you away. Things can change at any time. Patrick has taken a hit. Liason has not met the expectations of TPTB. For the foreseeable future, they're the story; but after February, it's anyone's game. (source)

[the identity of the father was ]Never in question, JT/KM just played along. (source)

11/10
Scrubs make headways but the baby issue surfaces again. (source)

She doesn't jump in front of the gun. She gets shot in the struggle for the gun. With that I am gone. (Leyla) (source)

Does Robin do anything for love?
Does Patrick?

patrick shields robin when the gun goes off..don't know what robin does..i don't think everything has been spoiled yet..some things are being held back.. Wink (source)

doesn't robin get hurt and that's how they (robin/patrick) end up covered in blood prior to the dream sequence?
Leyla gets a flesh wound. They get blood on them helping her. Robin gets a premonition and faints. Dream sequence
Thank you. Is Robin alone when she faints and then Patrick finds her?
All happens right after one another. She is in the same room Leyla gets shot in. (source)

She doesn't jump in front of the gun. She gets shot in the struggle for the gun. With that I am gone. (Leyla)
To clarify, Patrick and AZ are the ones doing the struggling. Leyla is just in the way. (source)

Any insider would know that the entire reason the character of Patrick was created was for him to be paired with Robin and to father her child. This is the story that brought Kimberly back to GH. It is the story Guza and company promised her. If someone is claiming that the father of Robin's babetobe was ever up in the air, they are outside the loop. (source)

MM can you ask why patrick is crying exactly?
I already know. But I am asking if I can tell. It is all about Robin & what he realizes. (source)

M&M. Good or Bad stuff for Scrubs?? Sad

Good. As far as I know hte next month or so is goign to be all about Patrick wanting to be with Robin & trying to get her back. (source)

Patrick's crying is about Robin and realizations. (source)

Does ABC keep track of that(who sells out the fastest) or is it just an online thing?
They do not keep track of who sells out the fastest. They keep track of who doesn't sell out at all.
ABSS (source)
