from that insider
I'm very uncomfotable with giving a lot of specific storyline info.
I will say that if the show plays according to the outlines, Monica will have more airtime this spring.
There'll be an increased emphasis on the hospital and she's part of that.
Of course, this was the plan before the mandatory budget reductions came down so I don't know if that will have any effect or not.
Do you know if Liz is being written to go after Patrick or vice a versa?
No.
But thanks.
I had this mental vision of Frons sitting at his desk, feet on the desk, coffee mug in one hand, outline in the other and reading Patrick/Elizabeth/romantic in a sentence.
It made me smile.
Are the writers considering Liz and Patrick?
Also from I have no idea what the writers are considering.
Its not happening anytime soon and I would think that might be the one sure-fired way of getting Guza fired.
Frons would wee wee on himself if he thought Guza was planning something like that.
I'm going to crawl back in my hole now.
Scrubs fans.
I am ignoring your questions.
I have a reason.
I can't tell you what it is.
But Scrubs really are golden.
I promise.
You'll get good news soon.
Nite, nite.

Scrubs: TWTH

I think Jt and KMc leave GH to do NS3 (22 episodes)!
NS3 going ahead is not going to be an either/or offer for them
So KMc and JT HAVE to do both GH and NS3!?!
one of the principal scenarios being reviewed has them continuing to appear on both shows
Really? That sounds like a 13-ep order is being considered. But haven't the actors said that doing both shows becomes difficult?
they have and that is a consideration. There has been discussion that if NS3 goes ahead and goes for 22 (which is much dependent on a number of issues) that it will be less centered on Patrick and Robin as SN will try to stand the show up on its own

11/29 Heard in the Waiting Room

  • Former soap writer Tom Casiello debunks the Quick-Cut myth.  While the quick cut technique of filming is welcomed in scenes that heighten tension and action, such as an emergency scene in the hospital, the use of it during an emotional scene kills the feeling you're trying to invoke.  Big emotional payoffs shouldn't have just one beat to a scene, before it's cut to a scene across town [Emma's birth is a clear example of the quick-cut abuse, in my opinion].

Year's Wildest Stories:Robin vs. Patrick (source)
What do you get when you combine a woman's ticking biological clock with a man's innate desire to remain a playboy bachelor? Trouble with a capital T, which rhymes with B, that stands for baby! After dumping commitment-phobic Patrick, Robin went around asking just about every guy in town to, um, make a donation to her baby fund, if you catch our drift. But Georgie's death drove a grieving Robin to seek comfort in her ex's bed, and quicker than you can say "babydaddy!" she got pregnant. Proving doctors really don't know everything, Patrick somehow deluded himself into believing he wasn't the dad. Even after realizing that he was the pop, Patrick and Robin spent months breaking up for one silly reason ("You wrote a nasty blog about me!") or another before finally getting their act together and realizing with a little help from Mac and a pair of handcuffs, they belonged together.
2009 Predictions
"Expect to see Patrick and Robin putting in a lot more hours as much more of the soap's action unfolds at the hospital. Also, at least one new character will be thrown into the mix, sending several lives into turmoil" Then there's some other stuff, about the rest of the show. So, I don't know if the new character is involved with Scrubs, or just the hospital. Take it for what you will. There's also a pic with a caption that says "Will Robin find out just how tough it really is to try and have it all?"

Anything on the wedding since it was filmed-do Scrubs get a rehearsal dinner or any lovey dovey scenes just them no Emma
No they don't. The wedding is very Emma focused
I am not being a smartass but how can a wedding be Emma focused?
Their vows are about them and Emma. She is at the altar with them. Etc.

Other soaps like Y&R have a year long story "bible" in which they have long plans in terms of writing. WTF do GH and TIIC follow? Cause based on thier writing it just seems they don't plan ANYTHING Thoughts or info?
Actually it is very well planned out, usually.
Guza submits the bible, which is basically a 200-300 page novel, with a chapter devoted to each storyline he plans on covering within a time period.
Frons reads it, writes suggestions in the margins, and sends it back.
Guza makes corrections, sends it to Frons, who reads it, signs off on it, and they send it to breakdown writers.
Occasionally, although not as often as you would believe, if all your info came from this board, there are some revisions and then Guza does a 20-40 page document, sends it to Frons for approval and then depending on where the show is at, within regards to the rewrite, it goes either to breakdown or to script writers.
It gets kind of messy(and I think that's where you're seeing what seems to be unplanned) if it occurs after its been sent to script writers because if you get a few pages explaining a change and several different writers have to incorporate it into their scripts then the chances of different interpretations are pretty substantial.

I don't mean to seem entitled but do you have anything to share on Patrick or Robin or Matt? If not I understand. Thanks for what you have dropped.
I've said it many times.
Scrubs are golden.
I think you'll hear some good news about them in January.

backstage insider:
Do you have any information on Kimberly,Robin or Scrubs?TIA
Kimberly's project for Lifetime is still waiting for a green light, last I heard.
How are things for the pairing of Scrubs? Is it true JT wants more medical stories for Patrick? Also are TPTB looking to break Scrubs up soon?
Yes to the JT question and no to the Scrubs question.
Is KMc asking for more story outside of Scrubs?
Yes. She wants more interaction with the Scorpios and has specifically expressed interest in working with KSt more.

I wouldn't count on either JT or KMc getting what they want. Patrick's part in the Dante secret is over for now and it may not be revisted and Maxie is busy with Kate and Carly's war for the forseeable future. She plays a part in the wedding but not as big of one as she did in the first wedding.

Liason
Scrubs
and LuLu

At SSW, the couples that seem most popular were Scrubs, Liason and Spinmax and they sure aren't being protected.

When Patrick gets home, Emma is still crying and Robin is overwhelmed with the situation. Robin is even more frustrated when it Patrick stops Emma from crying almost immediately. SOW ~
Robin Despairs as Dr. Drake becomes Mr. Mom

With Patrick proving to be a natural nurturer, Robin's difficulty bonding with baby Emma this week leads her to wonder if father really does know best.

JT says that Robin has put a lot of pressure on herself, to be a great mom and it's not going exactly the way she planned. He says that it gets to the point where Robin is really questioning her mothering skills; 'Do we get a nurse, because obviously, Emma doesn't like me?'

A still recovering Robin is stricken when she fails to comfort a crying Emma but Patrick has no such problem. JT says that when he comes home, Emma is crying and he picks her up and she's automatically okay. He says that Patrick is trying to be supportive of Robin who's having a little harder time with it. Robin can't breast-feed because she's HIV+ and a lot of studies have said that is a bonding time for mom and baby. Robin is starting to panic that maybe Emma is not bonding with her because of the breast-feeding issue. Are they not going to be connected?

JT says they try to keep it light in some places but the more it goes on, the more it affects her. He says it's starting to escalate, no sleep, the baby is always crying and Robin can't do anything about it, and all those feelings of her not being very good are starting to compound.

JT says that Robin is emotional and hormonal and wants to do the best she possibly can, she's still *Robin*, so she is still controlling and still wants to be the best at everything. All of that erupts into, "I'm not being a good mother."

The problem becomes serious enough to consult Kelly, who comes back with a depressing diagnosis.

I have just finished shooting the wedding sequence for Patrick and Robin's wedding, and if I do say so it was upbeat and intimate. More a gathering of a close group to witness the ceremony. The emotion was high as were all the normal attributes that you find at any soap wedding. Robert and Anna were very much the proud parents, who throughout the ceremony reflected on their life and what brought them to this moment.
I liked it because it was a gradual build to the moment with Robert realising he was giving away AND losing his daughter. The realisation of all the time he had lost over the years, and moments that he could never be part of, I think weigh heavily on him. But the one thing I was aware of through out the four days we shot was the rise of "the Scorpio family as a solid unit". In this, we see something that could really be built on for the future. The family generated a great vibe, with Robin, Patrick, Mac, Anna, Robert and baby Emma creating something very "soapish" yet reassuring in its own way. I believe you will enjoy this celebration.
Have a great Thanksgiving
Tristan

TS has some creditable information with some drama in the mix.
The information about TR was under wraps for his appearance on NS2, so the information about his scenes on GH may not be accurate.
But his appearance on GH for the second wedding has not been a secret. We have known for a while that he will be there.
No information about the specifics of his scenes has been divulged.
Can I be Linus?
When TS is talking about robin fans not enjoying stuff is that stuff happening now with the dream, and ppd?
Yes
I am not intimately familiar with TS, but the scenes the insider is illuding to relate to the PPD arc.
The accuracy of someone having a fit over scenes that have been shot, edited, sent to the affiliates is suspect.
Linus
Linus, can you give us examples on why Robin fans won't like this PPD material and do you know how long this arc lasts? Thanks so much

If you are a fan who prefers Robin as cheerful and competent, you will be disappointed.
If you are a fan who prefers a dose of reality (PPD) portrayed by a good actress, you will not be disappointed.
Linus
I prefer the latter so I guess I will happy. PPD survivor here and I am thrilled that KMc is getting this story angle. I'm sure that she will be great.
Because you passed a note earlier and maintained your sense of humor throughout this discussion, KMc actually made the suggestion during a production meeting with writers and producers.
Linus
TR post today made it seem as though the 2nd wedding was small and intimate. While others keep saying BIG soap wedding.
can you confirm either way.

What is your definition of small or big as regards soap weddings?
If you are expecting the entire cast to be present, the wedding is small.
Linus
I worked in TV my first job out of college many years ago. Our affiliate never received the network series much ahead of time -- most series, in fact, were on the live network feed and the master-control operators simply flipped the switch to the live feed and built the local breaks ahead of time to flip the VTR to air the local commercials.
Is that an archaic way of doing things now? Is GH being fed to the affiliates weeks ahead of time?

It isn't archaic but a bit dated in regards to the current process.
I don't want to mislead you into thinking that the next three or four weeks have been forwarded to the affiliates for air, specifically.
Press and advertising have previews which enable develop of such things as Soap Scoop and promos.
Linus
I was doubting that any MCO at any affiliate would be seeing GH episodes within a few days of the actors and actresses taping their scenes to know what might be trimmed or not. It makes much more sense that marketing and other on-air promo people would see that material before the affiliates.
I know that the SS is fed to the affiliates for instance early for their use to customize, right?

The airing of Soap Scoop is generally not customized by an affiliate.
The airing of SS has actually been canceled by numerous affiliates in recent months.

Dose of Reality:
Jason is interested in pursuing other projects such as independent films.
SAG at this point does not have enough votes to strike and their contract is still in limbo. Of course that could change
But indies won't pay the bills and he can likely do those and still do GH, no?
Jason has been very wise in planning financially for a potential departure and regardless of what many believe, independent films is a necessary step in moving a career forward. If you stay on a soap longer than 4 to 5 years, a stigma gets attached, so to speak. Jason young and wants to explore other things and has made that known. It is possible a deal can be reached with the show and Jason stay in some capacity. It is unknown at this point really what will happen.
You know about his financial planning? How ?
Don't get me wrong he could go or stay but he has been involved in other projects and still able to remain on GH with a pay check. He started a production company with his friends and BG he is looking try and sell some reality TV shows but he has been doing that for a while now.
I am just repeating what I have heard. He has seen a former collegue leave and secure work along wither a couple of other former soap actors outside of GH as well. He has no ties or family to support and wants to try other things. Again, I am not saying he is definitely leaving the show but as of now it is likely. It IS possible that a contract can be worked out I suppose.

Patrick and Matt bond over Emma and discuss Noah.

There will be a new murder mystery for March Sweeps that Bob Guza has planned. 3 characters, all female, will die as a result. They won't appear connected at first but slowly it is discovered that there is a comment element in all the deaths.

The mob S/L will take center stage again in January.

The February 2009 sweeps period has been moved to March so that the ratings would not be affected by any problems created by the February 17th switchover of the USA's broadcast television signals to digital television. It also will give a clearer picture of ratings since this period will not include the Super Bowl (in sweeps since 2004) or Daytona 500 (in sweeps since 2007 when finish aired in primetime), which often will artificially inflate ratings in "sweeps" periods.

Again with the hyperbole. That isn't what happens. This PPD story just ends. Robin starts bonding with Emma and stays home at least through the wedding. We don't see a nanny
What are you talking about? She goes back to work next week.

oh nothing is definite until paperwork is signed. But that is just what i have heard. Now all that could change in a minute if something big hits the fan. Soap money can be addicting. But I heard he was leaving. But will he change his mind I have no idea.

There are some scenes in the next two weeks that may have Scrub fans, particularly Robin fans, crying fowl.
Anything on Robert, does he have any scenes with Luke?

No scenes with Robert and Luke.
The scenes have already been filmed and dispatched to the satellite stations since they are taped weeks in advance. If something specific was cut or added, they could already tell you what it was, like Jason shooting Sam. It's true that Breakdown spoilers do not always match what is actually taped, but any changes would have been made weeks ago and legit insiders would already know what the changes are. Unless they want to spin something later on that is being deliberately held back from their info right now.
I've found a mate for La Scrubbie. If anyone is claiming cut scenes -- particularly that will have an effect on an upcoming storyline -- they should be able to detail exactly what they are.

From that insider
In April, SID ran a blurb which basically said they had good info that GH was planning a big splashy wedding for the end of the end of the year. That was the Scrubs wedding. PLANNED BY APRIL.
Somehow you guys seem to be operating under the impression that this show is flying by the seat of its pants. That's not true. Things are planned WELL IN ADVANCE.
The only thing happening right now that was not planned six months ago, is the kidnapping and that is in effect to bring about another stall because they had planned on having Dante onscreen by now(when they thought Tom Pelphrey would be playing the part) and as I've said repeatedly, the Jake story and the Dante story will intersect. So even that, was written in to accommodate a storyline planned well in advance.

fact or spec?
Thats what I want to know lol

Fact, although this covers through the end of March which is long-term and you do know that things are subject to change that far in advance but I don't expect a lot of this to change.
Just wanted to point out that the person who dropped these clues, did not say the answers were fact--they said that the scoops were facts and the time frame was.
Here is what they said..

Oops. Sorry. Misunderstood the question. The list is factual, the people assigned to each category, not so much

Patrick wants to marry Robin as soon as possible.

Scrubs in December, adjusting and enjoying parenthood and planning their big wedding.

Can you tell us anything about the wedding, wedding night or if Scrubs get a house?

Yes. Yes. Yes. But then I would have to .... you.

A few weeks ago there were some drops about them getting a house at Thanksgiving, but I doubt it. Robin and Patrick have brought it up to each other so maybe it is coming.
No house at Thanksgiving. Just dreams and nightmares.

Well,here's some potentially interesting 'gossip'.
Have no idea how close to the truth it is. Just something being discussed right now.
ABC is in trouble. Dirty Sexy Money, Eli Love and Pushing Daisies got the ax which means that, in addition to having no new hits in 2008-09 series thus far, the only two shows that survived the 2007-08 season were Samantha Who and Private Practice neither of which has ever made the top ten, and only rarely hit the top twenty. S
So in other words, ABC Primetime is not performing well which means McPherson is on a slippery slope.
Guess who's name is being bandied about as a likely replacement if he leaves......

Lucky does arrive at the Spencer home and finds Patrick there with Cam. When Patrick tells him Liz had something to do, Lucky realizes she is at the studio and rushes in to save the day.
Is there anyone else in the studio with her? My poor Liz.?
No but Lucky does arrive at the Spencer home and finds Patrick there with Cam. When Patrick tells him Liz had something to do, Lucky realizes she is at the studio and rushes in to save the day.

Am I the only one who does not believe the Liz Patrick cam lucky drop?

Wasn't here so I don't know what it is but I can tell you right now there are no plans to do anything with Patrick and Liz.
I hope you are right but I am weary. The wedding starts the end of scrubs. He is going to someone.
No, you're wrong.
ITs not the end of Scrubs.

APPLAUSE, APPLAUSE: JASON THOMPSON - Patrick, General Hospital

With Robin's life ebbing away, Jason Thompson did not play Dr. Patrick Drake, ace neurosurgeon; he played a far more heroic role: Patrick Drake, lover and father.

Thompson's Patrick watched Robin silently and rubbed his red-rimmed eyes. His face flushed, Patrick updated her family in a clipped, low whisper, then sought out his new daughter. Thompson's voice quavered as Patrick haltingly confessed to being unprepared for fatherhood. Then Thompson shoved his hands in his pockets and waved his arm or stroked his face as Patrick reluctantly admitted his fears to Matt. Patrick tried to sound casual, but the tears in Thompson's eyes and the lump in his throat betrayed fear. He kept shooting sidelong glances at Emma, as if afraid to leave her. Shaking his head, he looked Matt in the eye and gasped, "I can't raise her alone."

Patrick recalled good times with Robin, and Thompson let a smile form on Patrick's lips, then chuckled and shrugged when the doctor pondered an alternate life as a workaholic. Thompson's delivery quickened as Patrick talked himself into a spiral of bad news. When Matt noted Patrick's competitive nature would make him a good father, Thompson smiled, nodded and flashed him a sincere look of silent gratitude.

At Robin's bedside, Thompson set Patrick's jaw and grimly commanded her to survive. Later, that jaw dropped in awe as Robin awoke. Fans shared that awe, at Thompson's superlative work.

SOW (credit to SZ)
A Closer Look: Patrick

Patrick and Robin get a taste of what the world might have been like had they not met when they did, courtesy of this week's big fantasy sequence. Jason Thompson explains why Patrick has a wonderful life.

SOW asks if Patrick spends Wednesday dreaming about life without Robin and Emma.

JT says the concept is basically what would have happened if Scrubs didn't get together when they did. Patrick hooks up with Carly and Liz and Robin dates Matt for a "couple of days."

SOW asks if the episode is told solely from Patrick's POV or does Robin get to have a dream as well.

JT says that Robin gets some dream sequences; she gets her fantasy. In her dream she's dating Matt, which is interesting. About halfway through the episode Patrick finds out Matt is his brother.

SOW wonders if Patrick and Robin appearach in each other's dreams.

JT says yes, it doesn't really play out like a dream, that it's more like a couple of months smashed into one day.

SOW says that it seems to come from Patrick's previous Thanksgivings when he would take a vacation.

JT confirms that Patrick would go away because he didn't have a family and that's what Thanksgiving is really about. His dad wasn't around and his mom was dead and he no idea about Matt. So he'd leave and go do his bachelor thing. But now things are obviously different! He's got a baby and a fiancee and also a brother, he's really enjoying it. JT wouldn't say that Patrick is nostalgic for what he used to be. He understands that his life is different and he loves it.

SOW asks how Patrick's dream plays out.

JT laughs and says that the dream goes back to his womanizing days. It was fun for him to be the way Patrick used to be. It was fun back in the day and it was fun to do it again for a day.

SOW notes that practically the entire episode is Patrick and Robin, was it hard to tape?

JT says it was very hard. On a daily basis they already do a lot, like shooting a movie a day, but when you're in every single scene it's a test. He says he woke up that day and thought if he could get through this he can get through other things. By the end he and Kimberly were exhausted, mentally and physically but it was fun.

SOW asks if it was tough to get back into Patrick's playboy ways.

JT says he'd like to say it was, but it really wasn't. He says it's still in Patrick a little bit. It's just written differently. What he used to say, Patrick doesn't say anymore, but in this episode he does.

SOW says that JT doesn't usually get a ton of scenes with LW or BH, so how was that.

JT says that just to work with Becky was great and he love to work with Laura. He doesn't get to work with them that often. It's not bad when you get to work with these women all day, you know?

SOW asks if he show actual make-out scenes with them.

JT says that yes, with Becky and Laura and he made out with Kimberly. All three of them were very professional.

SOW asks wouldn't Patrick want to hook up with Leyla.

JT says oh, yeah, she's in there, too. Robin walks in on Patrick and Leyla making out in the shower.

SOW says it sounds like fun, does Patrick find happiness as a tomcat?

JT says that Liz tells him Carly will always love someone else, JT thinks it's a reference to Sonny. Patrick tells her yeah, and it's not him. With Liz it's more like Liz thinks he's great and she had a really good time with him but realistically speaking, she has two kids and he doesn't want any. Both Liz and Carly have a good time with him, but at the end of the day he's not the guy they are going to grow old with.

SOW asks if everyone learns a lesson in the end.

JT says that the moral of the story is basically "Love will come around." If you are meant to be with someone, you will be with them in life. It's not always how you planned or when you planned, but you will end up together.

SOW says that it sounds like a hopeful holiday message for Scrubs fans.

JT says that it's good for fans to see how their lives could have gone, but at the end, when fans walk back to the turkey and grab another leg, they'll know their couple is meant to be together.

---
Editor's Opinion

The sudden spike in emotional content over the past couple of weeks has been a welcome counterpoint to the same old dull mob shenanigans. I would much rather see Patrick worry about Robin and bond with his new daughter than I would care to endure yet another explosion in yet another alley or a freighter carrying unspecified "shipments." Contrasting Karpov and Sonny trying to kill each other with Laura's agonizing over walking away from Luke and his "new" wife clearly demonstrates which is the stronger story. Romance blows away the rogues. - Joe Diliberto

----------
Buzz...

JT reveals that Emma Grace was a conscious choice of name by the writers, to give Patrick and Robin's wee one individuality and ensure she won't be burdened by the pressures of any legacy. He says the name doesn't have any significance, which he thinks is great. He's also glad they went with a normal name, not something connected to a relative and something she's got to try and live up to. She's just her own person. Everything is usually so connected, which obviously makes our soaps what they are, but it's nice to have this little girl be on her own; be her own person. He notes that Scrubs mentioned names a couple of times, but there wasn't any scene where they discussed her maybe being Emma Grace. They just mentioned this is who she is.

JT gets Applause, Applause.

For his work when Robin was in a coma.
"Fans shared that awe, at Thompson's superlative work."

The first 2 wks in December, Liz has scenes with Jason, Lucky, Sam, Cameron, Olivia, Sonny, and a phone call with Robin but you see both of them onscreen.

Hi guys, I used to post here a lot a couple years ago, but had to go dark for awhile because of some backstage stuff going on with my source. That situation has improved a lot. There are a lot of rewrites going on right now, which may be why your normal insiders are not coming around as much. You can blame the changes in Nielson for this. They had to totally revamp timelines to coincide with March instead of Feb sweeps. A lot of the breakdowns that are out right now are off as there is a slowdown in the stories.

Can you give us anything on Scrubs?
Right now they have the highest ranking in focus groups as of early this year. In fact, they were the only couple tested that did well, which is why a lot of the current couples are being re-paired. Until they clean up the rest of the mess on this show Scrubs will not get trashed. The stuff will the parenting issues is considered minor "angst." If they can get TR to sign on to it Scrubs, Anna and Robert may get a storyline adventure in the new year.
Ok, have to run.
But before I go, I should tell DD that I am traveling and so my IP will be changing next time I post. Sorry, nothing I can do about that.

[regarding the hoopla about the Thanksgiving episode]
If you recall there was an eppy of NS2 entitled "We will always have Paris" written by a GH writer. SR chose to alter the script in that the female patient projected her former lover onto Patrick. The original script entailed Patrick being the former lover.

there is a m&m kiss. there is a spinmax. Guza wants spinmax (go figure) but frons want m&m.

Scrubs wedding brings out vets-- alive and dead.

With the ratings for all soap operas declining, TPTB at GH are worried that they will end up in a situation like DOOL, where their future is unclear from one year to another.
One of the main things that fans are being vocal about is the show being too dark. However, TPTB know that there is a large audience that does tune in for the dark mob stories. Therefore, in the coming months (actually this ‘plan’ started in early September) there will be a balance between the mob and lighter stories. Nikadine, Scrubs, Lusam and Spixie are going to provide the ‘lighter’ romance/hijinks that TPTB feel the audience really enjoys.

Robin and Liz fans?

Robin has some very kind words for Liz while Jake is missing.

Scrubs aren't on much the rest of this month and when they are it is family scenes with Emma and adjusting to being parents. In December, they start to plan their big wedding.

Robert will attend the wedding and walk Robin down the aisle. Then he will go back to Swizterland with Anna. There won't be much for either at the wedding. It's unknown whether Guza will be bringing either back, probably not anytime soon. But who knows after that.

Also, kinda getting frustrated w/ the lack of anything on GH. SSDD is grating on my last nerve!
The ratings indicate that many are feeling the same.
PA
According to sources, there is an ongoing debate about the level of violence. A variety of scenes were recently shot which have been edited from the final product due to the level of violence as well as tenor given to each storyline. For example, Jerry was much more cruel to Sam in scenes than the product that aired on your screens. In addition, scenes for the next arc (mob war) are being edited and revised prior to final production.
Drops of water cause many ripples, seen and unseen.

Letters to Muffin (Part 6)

Part 6:

Robin opened the package and smiled when she saw it was the journal that she’d sent to Brenda. She noticed that the once pristine edge of the book was now worn in from the number of people that had opened and closed the journal as they had added their notes to Emma Grace. She placed the journal on the coffee table and opened the letter that was addressed to her.

Ciao Bello Amico,

Greetings from Rome. I hope that this letter finds you well. And yes I realize that I just spoke with you recently, but things change so fast. I mean just a few short months ago you were a single woman pondering having a baby on your own, and now you are a happily engaged woman about to have a baby with the man that you love. A man that loves you beyond words. I am so happy for you Robin. You finally have everything I always knew that you deserved. You have the family you always wanted. For a long time there I wasn’t sure that you would get it, and then you met Patrick, and through everything you told me about him when you first met him, I knew he was the one for you. I realize that both of you fought it, but he was the one. The one that would change your life and give you everything that you deserved.

And for that I will forever be eternally grateful to him. So be happy my Robin. Enjoy your life, your love and your family. It’s all we have ever wanted for you, and now that you have it, hold onto it with both hand and never let it go.

Thank you for asking me to be a part of this, since I can’t be there with you. I am honored to be able to write a message to your baby, your Emma Grace. To be able to tell her what I know of you, to tell her the Robin that I have gotten the great and wonderful opportunity to know and love for the past 13 years of my life. You are the greatest gift that has ever been given to me, and I cherish you each and everyday.

I love you my friend, my sister.

Love Always and Forever,

Brenda.

P.S. Yes you can read the letter. Smooches.

Robin put the letter down and wiped her eyes and she opened the journal to the page Brenda had marked and started reading the letter.

My Beautiful Emma Grace,

Welcome to the world my little wonder. You were a long time in coming. I am your mysterious Aunt Brenda. I say mysterious because it will be a while before you get to meet me. You see I live in Rome. That is in Italy. I’ve lived here for a long time, and I don’t come to Port Charles very often. There is some bad history for me there. But that is a story for another time, maybe when you are a bit older. I’m very sad that I won’t get to be there when you are born. I’ve waited a long time for your mother to get to have you. You see I’ve known your mother for thirteen years, and throughout that time she’s encountered more trials and tribulations than anyone person should ever have to.

When she was seventeen years old I watched her handle losing her first love, Stone Cates, to an incurable disease, a disease that even now flows through her veins. I watched her pick herself up and carry on. It wasn’t easy for her, it shouldn’t have been. No one at that age should have to bury the person they are in love with. I wasn’t around for the end of her next relationship. I’d gone through some of my own personal stuff and disappeared from everyone’s life at the time, but I heard about it, and I can tell you that it wasn’t pretty, but like the courageous person that your mother is she once again put the pieces of her heart back together again and carried on with her life.

Some say she ran away, but she didn’t. For her own self preservation she moved to Paris. And while there we became friends again. You see I was already living in Rome at that time. But your mother was guarded. She kept her heart very close to herself. She focused on becoming the best doctor she could be, and let love become something she didn’t strive to obtain. I felt bad for her. I know how much she wanted to find the one. That person that she was meant to spend the rest of her life with. The person that she was destined to have the future she deserved with.

And as fate would have it, she came back to Port Charles and found it. She found your father. Sure she fought it tooth and nail, but she was meant to be with your father…and he was meant to be with her. And you my darling baby girl were meant to be with them. You are a very lucky little girl. You have so many people that love you already and you aren’t even here yet.

I know that for all the bravery that your mother has, she was scared to have you. See as much as you were planned, she is still scared to death that she will infect you with the disease that she carries, but I want to tell you a secret Emma Grace. If you are infected, you will have absolutely no better teacher than your mother. She will teach you how to live with this disease with grace and humility. She will teach you how to live each day, each moment to the fullest and to never take anything for granted. Both her and your father will teach you about pure unconditional love, and what it means to love completely, with your whole heart and soul. Because your parents love like that. Your mother always has, and even though I think that the love she has with your father is by far the greatest love she’s ever experienced, I know that she loved both Jason and Stone with all of herself. And because of that my sweet baby, you will always know what it means to be able to love open and honestly.

Your mother has taught me so much over the past thirteen years that I have known her. She’s taught me how to be strong. How to believe in myself, how to believe in a future, and how to believe that one day I will have the kind of love that she has finally found for herself. And that is only one of the many, many reasons why I love your mother. Your mother is the best friend I could have ever asked for.

I know I’ve talked a lot about your mother and not a lot about your father, the truth is that I only know about your father through your mother. I haven’t met him, but I know that he loves your mother breathlessly. She is his whole world, and you will be too. You and your mother are the best things that have ever happened to him, and I know that he will always be there for you, even if your mother can’t be. So trust in him Emma. Even if he messes up a little at first, from what I hear most first time fathers do.

But most of all what I want for you is to be happy my beautiful baby girl. Live a happy and full life, love well, laugh often, and grow in the image of your mother. She is the strongest, bravest, most compassionate person I know. And I thank God every day that I was blessed to get to be one of the lucky people to have her in my life.

Treasure your family Emma; they are the true foundation of love.

Love always,

Your Aunt Brenda.

Robin closed the book and smiled as she once again wiped away her tears.

“You ok sweetheart?”

“I’m fine daddy.” Robin said as her father sat down next to her. “I just read Brenda’s letter to Emma. I miss her.”

“I know.” He said hugging his daughter close to him. “Maybe once Emma is here we can convince her to come for a visit.”

“I’d like that.” She said. “I’d like that a lot.”

“I know.” He said kissing her head. “So that is the journal your mother told me about.” He said pointing to the book in her lap.

“Yep.” She said handing it to him. “You’re next.” She said. “If you feel up to it.”

“Absolutely.” He told her taking the journal. “Why don’t I go work on this and you take a nap before Patty gets home and we head over to Mac’s for dinner.”

“Ok.” She said with a smile. “Daddy?”

“Yes luv?”

“I love you.”

“I love you more.” He said with a wink before walking towards the dining room with the journal in his hand.

TBC……………….UP Next Robert.
